Yellow Crane Tower, located in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, stands atop Snake Mountain and overlooks the Yangtze River, making it a landmark of Wuhan. It was originally built in the second year of Huangwu in the Wu Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms period (223 AD). It has undergone numerous renovations over the years. The existing building is designed based on the prototype of the "Tongzhi Tower" from the Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt in 1985. It gained worldwide fame due to the poem "Yellow Crane Tower" written by the Tang Dynasty poet Cui Hao while he ascended the tower. It has been praised as "the most magnificent scenery under heaven" since ancient times. Along with Qingchuan Pavilion and Guqin Terrace, it is known as one of the "Three Major Scenic Spots in Wuhan". Together with Yueyang Tower in Yueyang, Hunan Province, and Tengwang Pavilion in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, it is also known as one of the "Three Famous Towers in the South of the Yangtze River". It ranks first among the "Top Ten Scenic Spots in Wuhan", is one of the "Four Famous Towers in Ancient China", and is one of the "Top Ten Historical and Cultural Towers in China".
